Choice of the Deathless

The sky over the demon world is broken. Lightning licks the strange geometries of cloud. Around you rises the demon-city Akargath, warped crystal and flame, thorns and razor wire. And this is the nice part of town.

A Choose-Your-Own-Adventure text-based game set many years before the book series but after the God Wars.

Featuring forays into demonic worlds, exploration of a city not featured in the books, characters that later have cameos in the novels (hi R’ok, hi Ashleigh Wakefield), and the weird and wonderful necromantic magic of Craft.

This was the second game I played and I think I prefer City’s Thirst a bit - the stories differ depending on your choices far more dramatically! But this is still fun, and I can’t help but love any writing expanding the Craftworld.

Available on Steam and in various app stores

This article looks at the different chapters of the game, key characters, and the awards you can win through different choices - everything you need to know is right here.

Summary of Choice of the Deathless

(From publisher)

Battle demons and undead attorneys, and win souls to pay back your student loans! At the elite demonic-law firm of Varkath Nebuchadnezzar Stone, you'll depose a fallen god, find romance, and maybe even make partner, if you don't lose your own soul first.

"Choice of the Deathless" is a necromantic legal thriller by Max Gladstone, Campbell Award-nominated author of Three Parts Dead and Two Serpents Rise. The game is entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
